The Legend of Marimo
It all began with a love story between a hunter and the daughter of a village chief. To escape the families who wanted to keep them apart, they took refuge on the shores of Lake Akan, on the Japanese island of Hokkaidō.
After their death, their spirits transformed into magnificent green spheres, embodying the perfection of human feelings.
According to the Ainu tribe, the spirits of Senato and Manibe became Marimo so that they could live their love for eternity.
